Description

The Papua New Guinea National Herbarium (LAE) was created in the late 1940s and is managed by the PNG Forest Research Institute in Lae. It holds about 200,000 specimens, mostly from Papua New Guinea.

Digitisation of the specimens is not completed. Many new specimens are arriving from the ongoing national forest inventory, but the herbarium does not have enough staff to process them all.
